There are two different  types of animal abuse. Theres deliberate abuse and theres just lack of taking care of an animal which is called neglect. Neglect is when you arent physically endangering the animals life but you are neglecting is by not giving it water, food, shelter, etc. basically everything that is essential for survial. Animals who die of neglect can suffer just as much as animals who are harmed on purpose.
